BY-LAW NO. 1986
"RESPECTING THE WEIGHT OF LOADS
TO BE CARRIED ON VEHICLES"
WHEREAS subsection 8 of Section 54 of the Highway Traffic
Act (R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 172) provides that:
The municipal corporation or other authority having
jurisdiction over any highway, may declare that the provisions of
subsections 4 and 5 do not apply to any or all of the highways
under its jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS restriction of loads is not deemed necessary
for the protection of certain highways in the Municipality of
the County of Elgin;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the
Municipality of the County of Elgin enacts as follows:
1. The provisions of subsections 4 and 5 of Section 54 of the
Highway Traffic Act do not apply to any highway in the County of Elgin
Road System.
2. That By-Law No. 1958 of the County of Elgin be, and the
same is hereby repealed.
3. This By-Law shall not become effective until approved by
the Department of Transport.
