"BEING A BY-LAW TO ESTABLISH A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR ALL EMPLOYEES OF
THE COUNTY OF ELGIN OTHER THAN THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS."
WIfEREAS it is considered advisable to establish salary
schedules for the employees of the various Departments of the
County of Elgin.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the County
of Elgin enacts that the following salary schedules be, and are hereby
adopted.
l. Salary Schedule for Road Department Employees,
A, Regular Hourly Rated Employees - (Overtime to be paid at
time and one-half for all time worked over 48 hours per week.)
Class 6 - Construction Foreman or Mechanic - either.
----raY Mechanic licensed by Ontario-uëPartment of Labour,
OR
(b) Construction Foreman in charge of specialized
work such as grading and granular base or bridge
construction and in charge of hired trucks, or
grading equipment and County equipment and one
or more county work crews.
$3.83 per hour
Class 5 - Foreman and Lead Hands - regularly.
(a) in charge of a work crew of at least 5 men and
county or hired equipment on a specific project,
(b) Supervising other county (or hired) truck and
(c) equipment on a regular basis.
Performing work which is a recognized skill or
trade. Experience rating - .04¢ per hour for
completion of each yea~s work to a maximum of
4 years.
Minimum $3.58 per hour
Maximum $3.73 per hour
Class 4 - Stockkeeper & Part time Foreman - either.

(b) Workers performing work of a higher classifica-
tion than Class 2 or acting as a foreman or
lead head of a work crew for a portion of the
year only. Experience rating .04¢ per hour
for completion of each yea~work to a maximum
of four years.

Class 3 - Machine Operators - Regular Operators on tandem
--- dump truck, -aistributor, float, grader, shovel
loader, backhoe, dozer, etc., a majority of the
time. The rest of time-skilled or special work
such as machine repair, sign construction, some
supervisory work is usually required. Experi-
ence rating -, .04¢ per hour for completion of
each year's work to a maximum of four years.

- To receive inquiries from and provide information
to the general public as may from time to time

Increments $200.00 per year to maximum.
General S~erintendent both
_ eneral supervision of all county work,
maintenance and construction.
- Control of all county and hired equipment and
personnel.
- Responsible to the Engineer for the planning and
scheduling of the work.
- Responsible for the hiring of outside equipment
and personnel when required.
- Responsible for investigations of inquiries and
complaints by the general public.
Minimum $10,850.00 per annum
Maximum $11,650.00 per annum
Increments $200.00 pe+ year to maximum.
Assistant General Superintendent
_ To act for and to assume all duties of the General
Superintendent when the General Superintendent is
absent (sickness, holidays, etc.).
To assist the Superintendent with all phases of
construction and maintenance and to have direct
control of any particular operation as from time
to time required.
To act as Construction Safety Inspector for the County.
Minimum $10,450.00 per annum
Maximum $11,250.00 per annum
