"REGULATING PARKING"
The Council of the Corporation of the Municipality
of Elgin enacts as follows:
1. DEFINI'rION
For the purpose of this By-Law.
Park or Parking, when prohibited, means the
standing-õf a vehicle whether occupied or not
except when standing temporarily for the purpose
of and while actually engaged in the loading or
unloading of merchandise or passengers.
Street or Highway includes a common or public
highway, street, avenues, parkway, driveway, square,
place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, designed and
intended for, or used by, the general public for
the passage of vehicles.
Vehicle includes a motor vehicle, trailer, traction
engine, farm tractor, roadbui1ding machine and
vehicle drawn, propelled or driven by any kind
of pow'er, including muscular power, but does not
include motorized snow vehicles, cars of electric
or steam railways running only upon rails.
2. PARKING REGULATIONS
When properly worded signs have been erected and
are on display no person shall park a vehicle on
the highways or parts of highways hereinafter
set on Schedule "A" attached hereto.
3. PENALTIES
Any person violating any of the provisions of this
By-Law shall be subject to penalty of not more
then Ten Dollars for the first offence and not
more then Fifty Dollars for every subsequent offence,
exclusive of costs, and all such penalties shall be
recoverable under the Ontario Summary Convictions
Act.
4. This By-Law shall not become effective until
approved by the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications.

1. County Road #37 is the road allowance known as the
Townllne Road, between the Townships of South Dorchester
and North Dorchester.
2. County Road #47 is the road allowance between Lots #3
and #4 In Concession VII, South Dorchester.
3. When properly-worded-signs have been erected and are on
dIsplay, no person shall park a vehIcle on the highway,
or part of the highway known as County Road #47, wIthin
one h~ndred and thIrty seven (137) feet of the south
lImit of County Road #37 on the ~est sIde of County
Road 1;47
