COUNTY OF ELGIN
By-Law No. 81-6
'BEING A BY-LAW 'to AMEND BY-LAW NO. 1687 WHICH ESTABLISHES A
COUNTY MUSEUM."
WHEREAS By-Law No. 1687, passed the 21st day of
November, 1956, sets forth the establishment, operation and
management of the Elgin County Pioneer Museum; and
WHEREAS appointments to the "Executive Committee",
detailed in paragraph 4, are to be made annually by County
Council, at its January Session; and
WHEREAS County Council now meets for a first time
as a Council in December of each year, as opposed to January
when By-'Law No. 1687 was passed; and
WHEREAS it would deem to be advisable to make the
appointments to this Board coincide with other Council
appointments.
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corpo-
ration of the County of Elgin enacts as follows:
1. That By-Law No. 1687 be amended by deleting
section 2 of paragraph 4, entitled "ORGANIZATION" and replace
it with the following:
"4. ORGANIZATION -
(2) The said committee shall comprise seven
members to be appointed annually by
County Council at its first meeting
after a regular election, and at the
first meeting in the second year of its
term as follows:
Two members from the County Council
One from nominees of each of the following:
- The East Elgin District of the Women's
Institute
- The West Elgin District of the Women's
Institute
- The Municipal Chapter of the Imperial
Order of the Daughters of the Empire
- The Council of the Corporation of the
City of St. Thomas
- The Council of the Corporation of the
County of Elgin (the nomination in this
case to be of a person other than a
member of the County Council)."

READ a third time and finally passed this 21st day of January, 1981.
