89-8 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 89-8 "BEING A BY-LAW AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN DOCUMENTS RECORDS AND PAPERS." WHEREAS the Council, pursuant to Section 116 of The Municipal Act, is authorized to destroy certain documents, records and papers with the approval of the Municipal Auditors; and WHEREAS Deloitte Haskins & Sells, County Auditors, have certified in writing that in their opinion it is no longer neces- sary to retain the documents, records and papers hereinafter set forth; and WHEREAS certaln documents, records and papers of the County of Elgin are of no further use, and now occupy space which is required for other purposes. NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. That the following documents, records and papers of the County of Elgin, all of which relate to transactions completed on or before the dates shown shall be destroyed: Hospital Indigent patient notices and correspondence 1972 and prior Children's Aid Society notices of Children In Care 1974 and prior Statistical Returns to DBS 1973 and prior. 2 . This by-law shall not tate effect until the auditors of the Corporation have approved this by-law by endorsing their names at the end thereof. READ a first time this 15th day of February, 1989.
