91-25 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-LaW No. 91-25 BEING A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE THE CLOSING OF A BRIDGE OVER A PORTION OF THE THAMES RIVER BETWEEN THE TOWNSHIP OF DUNWICH, IN THE COUNTY OF ELGIN, AND THE TOWNSHIP OF EKFRID, IN THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX, MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS 'TAIT'S BRIDGE'" WHEREAS the Corporation of the County of Elgin and the Corporation of the County of Middlesex jointly maintain the bridge, commonly known as "Tait's Bridge", which crosses the Thames River and connects Ekfrid Township's 20th Sideroad in the County of Middlesex with Dunwich Township's Coyne Road in the County of Elgin; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Class Environmental Assessment of Municipal Road Projects, an Environmental Study Report has been prepared; and WHEREAS it has been determined that Tait's Bridge is so badly damaged as to be beyond repair, having regard to the costs and adverse impacts of repairing the bridge and its abutments and the use of the bridge if repaired; and WHEREAS it has been determined that the rebuilding of Tait's Bridge would entail a larger expenditure than would be reasonable having regard to the use that would be made of Tait's Bridge if it were rebuilt. BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED AS FOLLOWS: 1- That the Warden and the Clerk are hereby authorized to make application on behalf of the Corporation to the ontario Municipal Board under subsection 284(10) of The Municipal Act for relief from any obligation to rebuild Tait's Bridge. 2. That, sUbject to the ontario Municipal Board granting such relief, the bridge, commonly known as "Tait's Bridge", which crosses the Thames River and connects Ekfrid Township's 20th Sideroad in the County of Middlesex with Dunwich Township's Coyne Road in the County of Elgin be permanently closed and removed.
