93-44 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 93-44 BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW NO. 88-64 PROVIDING PROCEDURES FOR THE ELECTION OF THE COUNTY WARDEN" WHEREAS pursuant to section 51, Chapter M.45, of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin did pass By-Law No. 88-64 providing guidance and procedures for the election of the County Warden; and WHEREAS it is deemed advisable and appropriate to amend said by-law to allow for the election of Warden by secret ballot. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. That procedure no. 6 in By-Law No. 88-64 be deleted and the following substituted therefore: "6. That voting will be by secret ballot and balloting will continue until a candidate obtains a majority of votes. The Clerk or Deputy Clerk shall count the votes. In the event there are more than two (2) candidates, the candidate receiving the lowest number of votes shall retire after each balloting. By motion, the Clerk shall be directed to destroy the ballots after the election has been completed." 2. That this amending by-law shall come into force and take effect upon its passing. 3. That By-Law No. 88-64 be so amended. READ a first and second time this 10th day of August, 1993. READ a third time and finally passed this 10th day of August, 1993 ::..e ~ nd n.
