95-19 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 95-19 "PROVIDING FOR THE ERECTION OF YIELD RIGHT-OF-WAY SIGNS AT INTERSECTIONS" WHEREAS section 314(1), Paragraph 7, of the Municipal Act, being Chapter M.45, R.S.O. 1990, provides that the councils of all municipalities may pass by-laws to provide for placing, regulating and maintaining upon the pUblic highways traffic signs for the purposes of guiding and directing traffic; and WHEREAS section 138(2) of the Highway Traffic Act, being Chapter H.8, R.S.O. 1990, provides that no yield right-of-way sign shall be erected except in compliance with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act. NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. A yield right-of-way sign shall be erected on County Road #27 facing eastbound traffic located near Meek's Bridge over the Kettle Creek in Lot 16, Concession Range 1 North of Union Road, Township of Southwold, approximately 216 metres east of the west limit of Lot 16 and approximately 250 metres north of the north limit of County Road #20 (Union Road) . 2. The penalties provided in section 214 of the Highway Traffic Act shall apply to offences against this by-law. 3. Each designation made by section 1 shall not become effective until yield right-of-way signs have been erected in accordance with the regulations of the Highway Traffic Act.
