96-16 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 96-16 "BEING A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE SPEED LIMITS" WHEREAS pursuant to section 128, Subsection 2, of the Highway Traffic Act, being Chapter H.8, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the council of a municipality may by by-law prescribe a different rate of speed for motor vehicles driven on a highway or portion of a highway under its jurisdiction than is prescribed in section 128, Subsection 1 (a) ; and WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed limit for motor vehicles on certain highways in the County of Elgin be different from the rate as set out in Subsection l(a). NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. That when any highway or portion of highway set out in Schedule "A", appended hereto, is marked in compliance with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be the rate of speed prescribed in the Schedule. 2. That the penalties provided in section 128, Subsection 14 of the Highway Traffic Act shall apply to offences against this by-law. 3. That By-Laws No. 89-19, 89-27, 91-41, 92-61 and any other by-laws inconsistent with this by-law be and are hereby repealed. READ a first and second time this 23rd day of April, 1996.
