BEING A BY-LAW TO PROVIDE FOR AMOUNTS TO BE RAISED BY THE COUNTY
CONSTITUENT MUNICIPALITIES REQUIRED FOR COUNTY PURPOSES FOR THE
NSTALLMENT'
1998 LEVY

WHEREAS Sections 364,365 and 366 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter
M.45, as amended by Bills 106 and 149, require the County to adopt the estimates and
establish the tax ratio for County purposes by March 31 of each year; and
WHEREAS the upper tier shall by by-law provide that the amounts to be raised by
each lower tier municipality shall be paid to the County on set installment payments; and
WHEREAS the information required to adopt the estimates for County purposes for
1998 will not be available from the Province until sometime after the end of March; and
the Province has extended the required date to set a tax rate for 1998.

WHEREAS
NOW THEREFORE
enacts as follows
1 That the Council of the County of Elgin set out the amounts to be raised by each
municipality for the March 31, 1998 installment at 25% of the prior year's amount required
for County purposes, set out on Schedule "A" attached hereto and forming part of this by-
law.
2 That the estimates for the 1998 County Levy, the tax rates for 1998, and the
amounts for the remaining installments be approved after the required information is
available from the Province.
