98-22 COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 98-22 BEING A BY-LAW TO PROVIDE FOR AMOUNTS TO BE RAISED BY THE COUNTY CONSTITUENT MUNICIPALITIES REQUIRED FOR COUNTY PURPOSES FOR THE NSTALLMENT' 1998 LEVY JUNE 30 WHEREAS Sections 364,365 and 366 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter MA5, as amended by Bills 106 and 149, require the County to adopt the estimates and establish the tax ratio for County purposes by March 31 of each year; and WHEREAS the upper tier shall by by-law provide that the amounts to be raised by each lower tier municipality shall be paid to the County on set installment payments; and WHEREAS the information required to adopt the estimates for County purposes for 1998 will not be available from the Province until sometime after the end of June; and the Province has extended the required date to set a tax rate for 1998. the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin WHEREAS NOW THEREFORE enacts as follows: 1. That the Council of the County of Elgin set out the amounts to be raised by each municipality for the June 30, 1998 installment at 50% of the 1998 amount required for County purposes, less the amount paid at the March 31, 1998 installment, set out on Schedule "A" attached hereto and forming part of this by-law. That the amounts due on June 30, 1998 be apportioned to each municipality based the same percentage share as calculated in the 1997 levy by-law. 2 on 3 That the tax rates for 1998 and the amounts for the remaining installments be approved after the required information is available from the Province 1998.
