Intersection Safety Improvements Centennial Road (EIQin Road #28) at Elm Line
(EIQin Road #56) - Technical Services Officer
The Technical Services Officer presented the report and noted that poor observance of
the stop sign is a concern. Staff has reviewed various options, concluding to paint hash
lines on the roadway and install a red beacon on the top of the stop sign to bring more
attention to the corner. To realign the intersection would require purchase of property, but
the intersection would remain skewed and other problems would occur due to a sharp
angle at the stop. A resolution received from Central Elgin requesting flashing beacons
on all stop signs at the intersection was discussed. The monies could be included in the
2001 budget and the work would be started as soon as possible.
Moved by Councillor Wilson
Seconded by Councillor VanBrenk
THAT the Engineering Services Department be authorized to have additional street lights
and flashing beacons installed over the existing stop signs at the intersection of Elm Line

Traffic Study at County Roads #73 and #52 be referred back to staff to prepare a report,
