14-25COUNTY OF ELGIN By-Law No. 14-25 "TO AMEND BY-LAW NO. 12-27 BEING A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE SPEED LIMITS" WHEREAS pursuant to Section 128(2) of the Highway Traffic Act, being Chapter H.8, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the council of a municipality may by by-law prescribe a different rate of speed for motor vehicles driven on a highway or portion of a highway under its jurisdiction than is prescribed in Section 128(1a); and WHEREAS the County of Elgin did pass By-Law No. 12-27 prescribing different rates of speed for motor vehicles on certain highways under its jurisdictions; and WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to amend said By-Law to prescribe a different rate of speed on certain highways under its jurisdiction. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. THAT a maximum rate of speed of 60 km/hr (formerly 80 km/h) be established for a section of Dexter Line (County Road 24) from the east property limits of East Road to 400 metres east, in the Municipality of Central Elgin. 2. THAT a maximum rate of speed of 60 km/hr (formerly 80 km/h) be established for a section of Culloden Road (County Road 46) from 100 metres south of the south property limits of Eden Line to 400 metres north of the north property limits of Eden Line, in the Municipality of Bayham. 3. THAT the penalties provided in Section 128(14) of the Highway Traffic Act shall apply to offences against this by-law. 4. THAT this by-law shall become effective once signage setting out the speed limit has been duly posted. READ A FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TIME AND FINALLY PASSED THIS 25th DAY OF NOVEMBER 2014.
