SUBJECT: NEW OFFICIAL PLAN
The Clerk presented copies of correspondence from Harry Mezenberg and Bob and
Janice Brearley regarding the new Official Plan.
Ted Halwa, Planner presented a document which regarding the new Official Plan, the
committee made the following comments:
?
Reference should be made to “environmental best practices” in discussion about
natural environment concerns
?
Additional lands designated for development in village areas – should be determined
if these lands can be serviced, engineer to report
?
Lands adjacent to existing industrial lands in Rodney should remain same, allow
future expansion
?
Lands at 401 interchanges – flexible designation, allow industrial and commercial
?
No highway commercial designations needed in villages
?
Allow large intensive livestock operations – our MDS and nutrient management by-
laws provide control
?
No change to retirement policies needed, include policies of new amendment
?
No change to farming requirements on lands adjacent to watercourses
?
Development in lakeshore area should be allowed to proceed as strip lots between
lake and Gray Line, however lot width is important
?
Allow for expansion of existing campgrounds east of Furnival Road
?
Concern about year round access on lands east and west of Furnival Road due to
topography – seasonal designation only?
The Planner reported that the background report would be finalized and forwarded to

public agencies. He will contact MMAH to meet with committee on February 20. He
will also contact Spriet Engineering to review servicing of villages.
