Ms. Dawn Burridge, Adult Day Program Coordinator, Elgin-St. Thomas Adult Day
Program, attended at 9:50 AM. to present a Wait List Management proposal. Ms.
Burridge noted there is a long wait list to use the day programs and challenges by late
cancellations that do not allow the empty spaces to be filled to recover costs. A
cancellation fee will now be charged if not notified 72 hours in advance of the program
however, the timeline could be adjusted depending on the situation. Transportation
provider charges are excessive and this issue is being discussed with MPP Peters.
Warden Acre thanked the delegation for attending and Ms. Burridge left at 10:04 AM
Mr. Roger Moyer, Manager of Local Government, and Mr. Bruce Curtis, Manager of
Community Planning and Development, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing,
attended at 9:26 AM. to provide an update on Ministry staffing and on the local office
activities. Mr. Moyer spoke to strong local government and communities and the
provincial/municipal partnership. A Fiscal and Local Government Service Review is
underway and a report is expected in early 2008. Mr. Curtis expanded on land use
planning activities and emphasized Ministry staff do not provide legal advice or
professional planning services, but do provide advisory service to municipalities
Acre thanked the delegation for attending and the delegation left at 9:50 AM.

Ms. Dawn Maziak, Primary Care Consultant, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care,
attended at 9:04 AM. to provide information regarding the St. Thomas and Area
Community Health Centre. Elgin County is under-serviced by 14 physicians and the new
Health Centre would provide services to certain individuals in the Southwold, Central Elgin
and St. Thomas area. Ms. Maziak emphasized the Health Centre is not a medical walk-in
clinic and clients who experience barriers to access of care would be registered to use the
services. The community would be very involved in the Centre to respond to local needs.
Warden Acre thanked the delegation for attending and Ms. Maziak left at 9:26 AM
