21-44 Appoint a Treasurer and Deputy TreasurerCORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN By -Law No. 21-44 "BEING A BY-LAW TO APPOINT A TREASURER AND DEPUTY TREASURER FOR THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ELGIN AND TO REPEAL BY-LAW NO. 08- 29 AND BY-LAW NO. 20-31" WHEREAS pursuant to section 286(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. M. 46, as amended ("Act"), a municipality shall appoint a Treasurer who is responsible for handling all of the financial affairs of the municipality on behalf of and in a manner directed by council of that municipality; AND WHEREAS, by By -Law No. 08-29, Elgin County Council last appointed a Treasurer for the Corporation of the County of Elgin; AND WHEREAS, pursuant to section 286(2) of the Act, a municipality may appoint a Deputy Treasurer or Deputy Treasurers who shall have all of the powers and duties of the Treasurer as may be required; AND WHEREAS, by By -Law No. 20-31, Elgin County Council last appointed a Deputy Treasurer and a Deputy Treasurer (Alternate) for the Corporation of the County of Elgin, AND WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the aforementioned appointments be revised to accurately reflect current operations for the Corporation of the County of Elgin; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Elgin enacts as follows: 1. THAT Julie Gonyou be and is hereby appointed Treasurer of the Corporation of the County of Elgin. 2. THAT Jennifer L. Ford be and is hereby appointed as Deputy Treasurer of the Corporation of the County of Elgin. 3. THAT By -Law No. 08-29 is hereby repealed. 4. THAT By -Law No. 20-31 is hereby repealed. 5. THAT, where provisions of this By -Law are inconsistent with the provisions of any other By -Law, the provisions of this By -Law shall prevail. 6. THAT, this By -Law becomes effective on November 23, 2021.
