BRIEFINGS 6.1 Donation Update — Director of Financial Services The Director of Financial Services presented the report updating the Committee on the amount of funds received since the Committee's last meeting (attached). In 2022, the donations to the campaign have increased by $111,620. The Chair reminded members to continue to recruit interested members of the public to the Committee. 7. Fundraising Strategies 7.1 Website Update/Status The Manager of Administrative Services/Deputy Clerk has updated the website to feature recreation items. Work is ongoing regarding updating the full catalogue that will be posted on the website. 7.2 Action Items from February 7, 2022 Meeting — Updates from Members The Manager of Administrative Services/Deputy Clerk informed the Committee that brochure holders have been purchased for the legacy 4 Page 4 May 16, 2022 brochures. Brochures will be available at the Elgin County Libraries and Long -Term Care Homes. 7.3 New Strategies, Events to Attend, Promotional Materials Needed Elgin County Tourism Services have provided a list regarding upcoming events taking place this summer in the County. The Manager of Administrative Services/Deputy Clerk will distribute the list to the Committee. Tourism Services is in the process of hiring summerstudents to attend the events, and have agreed to place the campaign brochures at the event booth. The Chair suggested that members of the Committee or other volunteers attend the events to promote the campaign with incentives to attract people to the booth and to donate. The Committee discussed different types of incentives as potential options for attracting the public to the booth (lottery, 50/50 tickets, food items, music, prize draws, etc.). Councillor Drouillard suggested that the Committee members reach out to local businesses for donations for draw items. Follow-up conversations will be held with the Economic Development department regarding requirements for attending events and more information will be presented at the next Committee meeting. The Manager of Administrative Services/Deputy Clerk will follow-up with the Manager of Program and Therapy Services regarding the potential of additional printing of copies of the "These Hands — Touching Memoirs of Seniors Living in our Communities" book to sell at events. 8. OTHER BUSINESS 8.1 Warden's Charity Gala: Results —Councillor Giguere The Manager of Administrative Services/Deputy Clerk presented the report informing the Committee that $27,757 was raised in support of the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Campaign at Warden French's Charity Gala on April 29, 2022. Total donations received from the event are still being reviewed and finalized. 9. CORRESPONDENCE None. 10. Residents and Business Owners of Elgin County are encouraged to apply for the following Boards or Committees: COMMITTEE: Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee I # Vacancies: 10 andate o assist the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Project Steering Committee to meet its project targets, including orking with staff and volunteers to recommend goals and objectives of the fundraising initiatives: • Recommend and draft a Fundraising Plan and Fundraising Target that supports and encourages community engagement with Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Project both the short and long-term, for approval by the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Steering Committee; • Support the staff and volunteers to identify, research, solicit, foster and steward major prospect and donors so as to build a pipeline of project specific support; • Assist with the development and cultivation of mutually supportive fundraising partnerships with local community groups and organizations; • Monitor and evaluate progress in meeting fundraising targets and return on investment; • Oversee the formation/review of policies and procedures associated with fundraising activities so that they are conducted in accordance with County of Elgin Policies; • Create and recommend fundraising policies that ensure that fundraising best practices are maintained and that committee's program is donor -centric; • Promote and support fundraising events/activities by attending, volunteering and/or giving monetary/in- kind assistance to the level that committee members are able; • Review and recommend levels of sponsorship recognition and evaluate methods of donor recognition and stewardship opportunities so that all donations of time and money are recognized appropriately. Covid shone a light on private longterm homes and the lack of care that was provided in some. This along with a large aging population there is clear need for facilities like Terrace Lodge. I believe in providing a supportive spaces in which people feel safe, comfortable, and heard no matter what the age, particularly during these challenging times. A facility like Terrace Lodge provides care and dignity to community members who may not be in a financial position to otherwise spend their final years in such a beautiful environment. Briefly describe your current and past community or volunteer involvement. I recently joined The Vienna Lions Club and will be volunteering in whatever capacity I can to better serve my community. Past Volunteer work includes: -Global Vison International volunteer internship -Embro Community Theatre (Makeup and costumes) -Assisting Stratford Air Cadets in organizing recreational activities 0 Briefly describe skills or experience relevant to the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee. Growing up my parents owned and operated a retirement home for years. The standard of care was very high, and I was always surrounded by lovely senior ladies. Raised in this environment, I developed and awareness of the challenges related to aging. I also learned to communicate effectively and compassionately with our residents and benefit from this lived experience today. Before Covid I worked in live theatre doing wigs and makeup. The skills I developed were: -working in a fast paced environment -interpret designer and directors vision -constant communication with varying departments to ensure a successful production and re-evaluation of the we did and make changes as needed What strengths will you bring to the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee?
