Oram, Director of Corporate Services/City Clerk, City of Belleville, with a resolution petitioning the Ontario Government to provide municipalities with additiona powers to raise revenues to finance upgrades to municipal infrastructure, such as those provided to the City of Toronto, and including the opportunity to levy carbon taxes with such funds to be devoted to environmental projects. Matters of Ur Notice of Motion - None Warden Hofhuis requested more information concerning the proposed comprehensive planning function at the County level. The Chief Administrative Officer explained that if Council decided to go forward with a County comprehensive planning function, the process would start small and preparations would begin in 2009. Councillor Marks indicated a letter would be coming to Council from Central Elgin stating its displeasure with the deadline of July 11th for lower-tier decisions on a County Planning function. Councillor Mcintyre thanked the Warden and Council for recognizing the recipients of the Premier's Regional Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence this morning.
