Before you begin completing this Road Occupancy Permit, please ensure you have the following required information readily available for upload to the permit form. Uploading a clear and legible photo is acceptable if the document is not available digitally.
1. Detailed plan / sketch of the proposed works and location.
2. A copy of the Contractor’s liability insurance in the minimum amount of $5 million and naming the Corporation of the County of Elgin as additionally insured. If the permit applicant is performing the work, the applicant must submit liability insurance in the minimum amount of $5 million and naming the Corporation of the County of Elgin as additionally insured.
3. Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard Only) / PayPal in order to process the permit fee ($200 or $400 for expedited approval within 5 business days) plus a refundable security deposit ($400 or $1000 if the proposed work is under a roadway). Some larger projects may trigger a different security deposit value to be submitted. The applicant will be contacted directly if an increased security deposit value is required.

Note: This conditional permit approval will satisfy your land division severance entrance permit condition requirement. This approval does not grant permission to proceed with the construction of any entrances or work upon the County road property. In advance of any construction work upon County road property, a new Road Occupancy Permit must be applied for and include the required supporting submissions (i.e. permit fee, refundable security deposit, contractor contact information, contractor insurance and a detailed construction plan).
